The journey into graphic design is, so far, both creatively amazing and frustrating.
I really love learning new skills and boy is there a lot to learn. Graphic design is quite different to being able to create blog post graphics and web quality website design elements.
Emotions run through the highs of creative excitement to the lows of artistic frustration. Every step taken with a piece of work is like exploring something new with a promise of perfection that matches the image you have in your minds eye.
Sometimes, the finished image matches what you had in mind, sometimes it doesn’t. Either way, what a great learning experience it is.
The orchid poster image above went through various steps, as different graphic design techniques I’m learning were applied, using an array of tools available in different graphics programmes. You’ll spot a couple of versions over on my Facebook page.
As for the feminine desk and accessories layout that frames my poster so beautifully, I didn’t have to re-invent the wheel or worry about my artistic design skills. It was effortlessly created using the Design Cuts resources I have at hand on my hard drive.
Thank goodness for that!
