Web Design Makeover
Karen of Pledging for Change does as much as she can herself on her website and, she will openly tell you that, she can get “into some real sticky messes”.
When it comes to giving P4C a website design makeover, Karen chose not to tackle that herself, just in case things got really sticky.
A couple of years ago we helped Karen transfer her site over to WordPress and improve the overall look of her site and, as website design styles have changed so much in that time, she decided to return to us for another website design makeover.
As she was already using the genesis framework, she just needed to choose a child theme she liked, and we agreed that the eleven40 Child Theme could help her keep her site content more organised.
Customised Home Page Layout
If you are looking at the eleven40 Child Theme demo site you may notice (keen eyes needed) that Karen’s Home Page is slightly different, eg: does not use the genesis grid loop functions.
Pledging for Change used a plugin/s which generated a conflict with the grid loop functions. Therefore a customised home page was required to facilitate the look and column structure of the main child theme, without the need to use the grid loop or lose the plugin/s she preferred to keep.
Another customisation was a new logo. Karen loved her original ‘Hand Up’ logo, so she’s kept that concept with a modernised logo icon.
Karen is delighted with her new design and is now set to continue managing her content and hopefully she’ll successfully avoid getting ‘into some real sticky messes’.
Best wishes to you Karen, especially as you work so hard and so passionately to help others.
Advice Note: Use plugins sparingly, with care.
